NM Woodturners also hosts monthly turning events at James, Cooke and Hobson, Inc. (JCH), typically covering subject matter from the demonstration presented at the previous week’s club meeting. These turning events make use of the club’s six Laguna 2412 lathes and typically run from 10:00 AM to 2:00 or 3:00 PM, depending on subject matter. JCH is located south of Journal Center at 4210 Hawkins St. NE, Albuquerque NM 87109.

About NMWT

New Mexico Woodturners, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has over 150 members from the areas surrounding Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico.

We meet the first Saturday of each month at the North Domingo Baca Multigenerational Center, 7521 Carmel NE, Albuquerque, and we welcome anyone with an interest in wood turning, from beginner to professional. The meeting starts at 10:00am in Room 5 upstairs. For the members who prefer a virtual option, a Google Meet meeting link is sent to all members prior to the meeting.

Meetings feature presentations on turning techniques, wood selection, tools and safety. Special topics have included vacuum chucks, holiday ornaments, and other unique subjects. Most meetings include an informal “Instant Gallery” of member work, photos of which can be seen in our galleries section.

We typically bring in nationally known guest presenters annually, and the club sponsors numerous special events, workshops, and projects. A popular event is the woodturning exhibition at the New Mexico State Fair, “Expo New Mexico” held every September. Activities include woodturning exhibitions, live demonstrations, and videos on a range of topics relevant to woodturning.
