President’s Turn 26-09

As the end of 2026 is now only four months away, we are rapidly approaching the end of my second term as your president. Likewise, the list of pending initiatives works down to zero. At the April board meeting, I will be surveying the current board to see what positions may soon need refilling, but you should not wait until someone leaves before getting involved…

26-05 Demo: Abrasives by Dennis Cahill

ABRASIVES.   A rough topic no matter how you look at it.  Most woodturners hate to sand and work very hard to get that perfect final cut that virtually eliminates the need to sand.  During this presentation, we will discuss the history of abrasives and how they are made, different types of abrasives and their suggested…

26-04 Demo: Pyrography and Power Carving

Once a vessel is turned, cutting into the surface adds a whole new dimension to the appearance of the turning, and allows the turner to showcase their creativity. Winter is now behind us, but if the current heat wave is any indication, we are skipping spring and are heading directly into summer. I guess I need to get into the shop and see if I can impose any order there before it gets too hot to work. For the April demonstration, our past president and vice-president will team up to present pyrography and power carving…
