President’s Turn 26-10
It is hard for me to accept, but we will soon be entering the month of October (as of this writing). Another year is rapidly coming to an end, and the election of the officers on the executive committee is only a month away. Yet, as of this writing, we will be without a president and a vice president at the end of the year. This means that the New Mexico Woodturners will also cease to exist, as our charter requires that we have a fully staffed executive committee. If we are to prevent this from occurring, we need you to step up. Both vacant positions need to attend the monthly club and board meetings (the board meetings are currently held remotely)…
President’s Turn 26-09
As the end of 2026 is now only four months away, we are rapidly approaching the end of my second term as your president. Likewise, the list of pending initiatives works down to zero. I still hope to complete revamping our membership “database” before the end of the year, but other than that, all of the other club upgrades are completed, or nearly so.
Over the last eighteen months, we have completed migrations of all of the club’s IT, financial, marketing, and management systems, including a new website with online and in-person credit-card payments, a new monthly demonstration/training meeting at JCH with access to warehouse the club’s lathes, tools, and turning blanks.

The August NMWT meeting will take place on August 1st. The August meeting will feature our annual state fair demonstrations preparation, organized by Bill Mantelli (participants and topics are pending)…
President’s Turn 26-07
The July NMWT meeting will take place on July 4th. The demonstration topic will be “Finishes including oils” (I don’t recall why oils were singled out, but that was the voted-on topic). Finishes may be those that are commercially available, or those that are home-made by you or someone else…

The June 6th NMWT meeting will host Emily Ford from Utah, our professional demonstrator for 2026. She will offer four workshops on Sunday, June 7th through Wednesday, June 10th. At the time of this writing, six of the eight possible seats have been reserved for the Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday sessions. There are four open seats remaining for the Wednesday session.
