President’s Turn 26-08

The August NMWT meeting will take place on August 1st. The August meeting will feature our annual state fair demonstrations preparation, organized by Bill Mantelli (participants and topics are pending).

Due to the last-minute closure of the Dominico Baca Multigenerational Center, our July meeting was cancelled, so there is nothing to report on that, but we were able to hold the “Home-made finishes” JCH event on July 11th. Ten or twelve members participated, and hopefully helpful discussions were held on topics related to the preparation of various finishes, pastes, and waxes. For those who attended, the handouts will be available at the August club meeting (that is, if I don’t forget them again).

And this month’s going above and beyond award goes to Larry Evans who constructed a number of plywood boxes to replace the rather worn out “Chewy” boxes what we were using to hold the club materials and blanks for the JCH turning events. All of the lids are interchangeable, and they are sized to stack neatly on the pallet. Thank you, Larry!
